The practice

An architectural practice in Singapore

Space Design works on places of worship, houses and commercial buildings. Most of our work comes by recommendation from the people we have already built for.

An appointment normally runs from brief and feasibility through to construction administration and completion. We prepare and lodge the regulatory submissions ourselves and manage authority queries through to clearance.

Drawings, submissions and site.

Space Design works on places of worship, houses and commercial buildings. Most of our work comes by recommendation from the people we have already built for.

How we work

An appointment normally runs from brief and feasibility through to construction administration and completion. We prepare and lodge the regulatory submissions ourselves and manage authority queries through to clearance.

Cost is reviewed with the quantity surveyor at each design stage, so the scheme and the budget move together rather than meeting for the first time at tender.

The studio

One office, working on a small number of projects at a time.

01
We keep the number of live projects low so that the architect in charge stays on each of them.
02
Drawings, submissions and site visits are done in house.

Selvanayagam Nadarajah

Principal Architect

BOA Registration No. 1631. RI 345.

1985 to 1990
Polytechnic of North London, United Kingdom. B.Sc Dip (Hons) Architecture. ARIBA. MSIA.
2000 to present

1992 to 2000

1987 to 1989

In practice since 1992, first at Landmark Architects and, from 2000, under his own practice. The work at Landmark ran from inception to completion and handover across condominium, retail, institutional, residential, factory and warehouse developments.

Under Space Design Architects the practice covers conceptual design and planning, architectural services, compliance with the authorities, interior design and project implementation.

Alongside the practice's own commissions, his career includes corporate interiors and fit-out for banking, technology, industrial and government occupiers in Singapore, on floorplates from 11,000 to 330,000 square feet. Those projects were carried out under two different practices across three decades, and the schedule distinguishes them.

[UNCONFIRMED: written consent from each corporate occupier before any of them is named on this website, and confirmation of which were done at Landmark Architects rather than at Space Design Architects]

Under the Architects (Professional Conduct and Ethics) Rules, responsibility for everything published about a practice rests with the registered architect personally. Space Design Architects is a sole proprietorship, so that is one named person, not a company.
