Space Design works on places of worship, houses and commercial buildings. Most of our work comes by recommendation from the people we have already built for.
An appointment normally runs from brief and feasibility through to construction administration and completion. We prepare and lodge the regulatory submissions ourselves and manage authority queries through to clearance.

How we work
An appointment normally runs from brief and feasibility through to construction administration and completion. We prepare and lodge the regulatory submissions ourselves and manage authority queries through to clearance.
Cost is reviewed with the quantity surveyor at each design stage, so the scheme and the budget move together rather than meeting for the first time at tender.

In practice since 1992, first at Landmark Architects and, from 2000, under his own practice. The work at Landmark ran from inception to completion and handover across condominium, retail, institutional, residential, factory and warehouse developments.
Under Space Design Architects the practice covers conceptual design and planning, architectural services, compliance with the authorities, interior design and project implementation.
Alongside the practice's own commissions, his career includes corporate interiors and fit-out for banking, technology, industrial and government occupiers in Singapore, on floorplates from 11,000 to 330,000 square feet. Those projects were carried out under two different practices across three decades, and the schedule distinguishes them.
Under the Architects (Professional Conduct and Ethics) Rules, responsibility for everything published about a practice rests with the registered architect personally. Space Design Architects is a sole proprietorship, so that is one named person, not a company.

Brief and feasibility, schematic design, written permission, building plan approval, tender, construction, then Temporary Occupation Permit and Certificate of Statutory Completion.
Programme durations vary by project type, scale and authority workload. We issue an indicative programme once the site and the scope are confirmed.

Privacy Policy
Space Design Architects ("we", "the practice") is committed to safeguarding your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore (the "PDPA"). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
1. How this policy sits with our professional obligations
Space Design Architects practises under a registered architect and is also bound by the Architects Act 1991, the Architects (Professional Conduct and Ethics) Rules 2001 and the building legislation under which plans are submitted to the authorities. Where another written law requires us to keep, use or disclose personal data, that law prevails to the extent of any inconsistency with the PDPA, as section 4(6) of the PDPA provides. In every other respect, this policy applies in full.
2. The personal data we collect
- Identity and contact data: your name, organisation, address, telephone number and email address.
- Project data: information you give us about your site, building or project, including drawings, documents and correspondence.
- Enquiry data: the information you submit through the enquiry form on this website.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through analytics.
3. Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and to assess whether we can take on the commission.
- To provide architectural services and to act on your instructions.
- To prepare and lodge submissions to the authorities on your behalf.
- To comply with our professional, regulatory and legal obligations.
- To administer the practice, including billing and record keeping.
4. Consent
We collect, use and disclose your personal data with your consent, or where the PDPA or another written law otherwise permits or requires it. By submitting an enquiry, you consent to our using your data to respond to it. You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to us, although doing so may mean we can no longer act on your project.
5. Disclosure
We may disclose your personal data to third parties where it is necessary for your project or where we are required to do so. This may include the government agencies and statutory authorities to which plans and project information are submitted, the Board of Architects where the law requires it, consultants and contractors appointed to your project, and our professional advisers and IT service providers. We do not sell personal data.
6. Confidentiality of your project
We treat information about your project as confidential to you. We do not show a project on this website, or anywhere else, where doing so would breach a confidence we owe to a client or former client, as the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for architects requires.
7. Transfer outside Singapore
Some of the services we use to run this website and the practice, such as website hosting, email and analytics, may store data outside Singapore. Where personal data is transferred overseas, we take steps to ensure it receives a standard of protection comparable to that under the PDPA.
8. Protection and retention
We take reasonable security arrangements to protect personal data in our possession against unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure or loss. We retain personal data for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, and thereafter for the period required by our professional and legal obligations, after which it is securely destroyed.
9. Accuracy and access
You may ask us for access to the personal data we hold about you, and for information about how it has been used or disclosed in the past year. You may also ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete. We may charge a reasonable fee for an access request, and we will tell you the fee before we proceed.
10. Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies to operate correctly and to understand how the site is used. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, although some parts of the site may then not work as intended.

Accessibility

Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard commonly adopted in Singapore and internationally.
How the site is designed
- Text and background colours are chosen for sufficient contrast, and body text is set at a comfortable size with generous line spacing.
- Headings follow a logical order so that screen reader users can navigate the structure of a page.
- Project photographs carry text descriptions.
- Form fields have proper labels, and errors are described in text rather than by colour alone.
- Buttons and links are large enough to be tapped comfortably on a phone.
- The site reflows to a single column on small screens without horizontal scrolling, and text can be enlarged without content being lost.
Known limitations
Some third-party content may not be fully accessible because we do not control how it is built. Our address and telephone number are always available in text on the Contact page, and you are welcome to telephone instead.

9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them.
